Students receive Energy Academy certificate

New Energy Academy, the student program of New Energy Coalition, organized a Graduation Ceremony on Thursday, July 5th, for all students who have earned an Energy Academy Certificate or Statement of Participation. The Energy Academy Certificate is a valuable qualification in addition to the diplomas that students earn at the Hanze University of Applied Sciences or for University of Groningen to gain knowledge from other disciplines and work on a competitive skillset in various energy-related topics.

Students help accelerate the energy transition

New Energy Academy encourages students from diverse backgrounds to prepare them as young professionals with diverse perspectives on the energy transition. To obtain the Energy Academy Certificate or the Declaration of Participation, students are invited to participate in the Energy Learning Activities program (as well as complete courses with at least 30 ECTS of interdisciplinary energy education in the case of the certificate). Through these activities, participants gain knowledge about the opportunities and challenges faced by various stakeholders in their efforts to accelerate the energy transition.

Interdisciplinary view on the energy transition

The result is that participants can present a well-founded and well-considered vision of the energy transition and contribute to interdisciplinary solutions for energy-related issues. This year's program successfully resulted in 20 students receiving an Energy Academy Certificate and 5 students receiving the Declaration of Participation. Gertjan Lankhorst, CEO of New Energy Coalition, emphasized the importance of energy education during the Graduation Ceremony and envisions a bright future for young energy professionals.

This is exactly what the energy transition needs – young and motivated students who are enthusiastic about helping to solve energy-related issues.
