Review of successful partner day Noord-Holland Noord

In recent years, the number of New Energy Coalition partners in Noord-Holland Noord has grown significantly. Den Helder, Alkmaar, Hollands Kroon, the province of Noord-Holland, and Ontwikkelingsbedrijf NHN are now valued partners. To strengthen ties with these partners, as well as other collaboration partners, New Energy Coalition organized a partner day in Noord-Holland Noord. Besides strengthening ties, the goal was also to provide a glimpse into New Energy Coalition's activities in the region. The primary focus was to give the partners a voice.

During the full-day program, participants were taken on a tour of the three clusters in the region: Alkmaar, Wieringermeer, and Den Helder. At each location, we focused on local initiatives contributing to the energy transition in Noord-Holland Noord.

Theme 1: Sustainable industrial estates and green gas clusters

Gathered at the InVesta expertise center, the day started with a welcome speech from Marieke Abbink – CEO of New Energy Coalition and Alderman Christian Schouten of the municipality of Alkmaar.

Frank Brandsen presented New Energy Coalition's regional vision for the Alkmaar region. The focus in this region is on green molecules, smart energy systems, and supporting innovation and entrepreneurship. Port area project leader Rik Duijn guided attendees through the development of a virtual local energy system in the Boekelermeer port area. The morning concluded with a presentation and tour of InVesta and the Energy Innovation Park Alkmaar.

Theme 2: System integration and sustainability of agriculture and greenhouse horticulture

We traveled by bus to ECW, where attendees were welcomed by Robert Leever, alderman of the municipality of Hollands Kroon. During the lunch presentation, the development of ECW Energy at the Agriport A7 was explained. The further development of the energy hub (consisting of several sustainable energy carriers) is central to this presentation, as an opportunity to create sustainable synergies between the existing data centers, greenhouse horticulture, and the surrounding area. Furthermore, NEC's regional vision for the Hollands Kroon region was explained, outlining the opportunities for linking the Agriport A7, the HYGRO hydrogen turbine, and the Agrifieldlab. Jeroen Noot, program manager of Greenport Noord Holland Noord, also presented the Agrifieldlab Hydrogen, where all involved parties will gain knowledge about the introduction and application of hydrogen in the agricultural sector. Finally, the Regional vision energy Agriport A7,drawn up by ECW Energy and Greenport Noord-Holland Noord, presented to the alderman of Hollands Kroon.

Theme 3: Offshore energy hub and turntable in the energy transition

The next destination was Den Helder, where attendees were welcomed at the Maritime Emerging Technologies Innovation Park (METIP) by METIP program manager Paul Verbruggen and Den Helder alderman Peter van Diepen. This was followed by an insightful NEC regional vision for the Den Helder region, highlighting a central role for the Port of Den Helder and significant opportunities for receiving large quantities of energy from the North Sea. NAM concluded by presenting developments surrounding the H2Gateway project, after which there was an opportunity for a tour of the METIP innovation hall.

We returned to Alkmaar by bus, where the day concluded with a networking reception where participants had the opportunity to share experiences and forge new connections. Thus concluded a day full of knowledge sharing, innovation, and strengthening collaborations towards a sustainable future. We would like to thank all participants for their participation and contribution to this successful day.
