Zephyros

Zero emission in the Port of den Helder using hydrogen for transport over road and the Wadden Sea.
Goal
Currently, there is no (green) hydrogen infrastructure in the Dutch Wadden Sea ports. Zephyros stimulates the development of a hydrogen infrastructure and the use of green hydrogen in the maritime sector.
Facts
Start date: 1 January 2020
End date: 31 December 2024 (originally 31 December 2022)
Funding (rate): 55%
Project scope: € 6.439.340,00
Description
Zephyros aims to demonstrate the technical operation of the green hydrogen chain in the maritime sector. From the generation of green power to its application in vessels; from ‘well-to-propeller’. In doing so, the project aims to prove that it is commercially feasible to sail on green hydrogen. Port of Den Helder serves as the base of operations.
Our role
New Energy Coalition contributes to the activation of the international hydrogen network and the development of hydrogen mobility in the (Northern) Netherlands. New Energy Coalition’s role is to disseminate the project results and connect stakeholders to the project.
