SMILE
Demonstration of nine different smart grid technologies on the islands of Madeira, Orkney Islands & Samsø.
Goal
Demonstration of smart grid solutions in three pilot projects in different EU island regions
Description
By optimizing supply and demand through various smart grid technologies, demonstrations, and evaluations in various EU island regions, lessons learned and best practices can be applied and extrapolated to other islands and even the mainland to solve the challenges of the energy transition at a local level.
The ultimate goal of the project is to promote the market introduction of the nine tested technologies. The development of smart grids is a key prerequisite for the transition to a clean, affordable, and reliable energy system. Therefore, the development of market-ready technologies that facilitate this transition is crucial.
Our role
We are the initiator and co-developer of the project, working with the RINA coordinator on communication, dissemination, exploitation, and replication activities.
