LNG PILOTS
Facts
Project duration: - Budget: € 6.750.000 Grantor: Interreg Deutschland-Netherlands Subsidy programme: Interreg V AAccelerates the introduction of LNG as an alternative fuel in cross-border freight transport between the Netherlands and Germany.
Goal
Accelerates the introduction of (bio)LNG as an alternative fuel in NL-DU cross-border freight transport.
Description
The project focuses on the accelerated introduction of LNG (including bio-LNG) as an alternative fuel for freight transport in the border region. (Bio)LNG is an effective way to make heavy transport more sustainable, and carriers are willing to invest in their fleets to switch to LNG. This would lead to a reduction in emissions from freight transport.
Investments in this area will benefit the quality of the regionally established research institutions and enable the establishment of high-tech companies in logistics, vehicle construction, shipbuilding, energy technology, and energy supply. Furthermore, Germany and the Netherlands can strengthen their technological forerunners in LNG applications and their competitive position in Europe.
