IANOS
Facts
Project duration: - Budget: € 7.000.000 Grantor: CINEA Subsidy programme: Horizon2020 Grant number: 957810Islands as a testing ground for decarbonisation and community engagement in the energy transition.
Goal
Decarbonizing islands by developing tailor-made technical solutions with profitable business cases, while actively involving citizens, businesses and other stakeholders to become active players in the energy system.
Description
Islands serve as testbeds for energy transition in IANOS. Innovative solutions are tested for technical and economic feasibility, while citizens and stakeholders from two pilot islands – Ameland (Netherlands) and Terceira (Portugal) – are involved in the process. The findings are shared and applied to three "colleague islands": Lampedusa (Italy), Nisiros (Greece), and Bora Bora (French Polynesia), to develop a business model for energy transition across all European islands. This approach accelerates the transition to energy independence and ecological resilience.
Our role
We manage the "Energy Cooperatives and Stakeholder Involvement" portion of the project, conduct research for Ameland, and support project communication.
