GZI Next Northstar
Development and construction of an industrial green gas installation on the former GZI site in Emmen as part of GZI Next.
Goal
Northstar is part of GZI Next, developing an industrial fermentation plant capable of producing approximately 40 million cubic meters of green gas annually from manure and (agricultural) residues. In addition, approximately 40 ktons of bioCO2 and several hundred thousand tons of organic fertilizers will be produced.
Description
GZI Next Northstar produces green gas, bioCO2, and fertilizers, thus contributing to the energy transition, circular agriculture, and greenhouse gas reduction. The project is a public-private partnership in which governments and businesses collaborate.
Northstar is part of the GZI Next project where work is underway on the former gas purification plant site in Emmen to create a sustainable energy mix for the region, consisting of green gas, solar energy, and hydrogen.
