Launch of large-scale European hydrogen knowledge project

With the decision to award EUR 10 million in EU funding, Hy2Market, a large scale European research project led nu New Energy Coalition to strengthen and underpin the European hydrogen economy, was given green light this week. The three-year project has a total budget of EUR 14 million. Hy2Market will start February 2023 and conclude at the end of January 2026.

An integrated and European approach is needed for the integration of (green) hydrogen

Hy2Market brings together regions across Europe working on various innovations to stimulate the production, transport, and use of green hydrogen. The project builds on the expertise of European leading regions such as Upper Austria and Rhône-Alpes, the first European Hydrogen Valley in Noord-Nederland and the HEAVENN project.

Hy2Market brings together 38 partners in 10 regions. In these regions, companies and (knowledge) institutions collaborate on innovations, studies, and investments to create a robust and innovative hydrogen value chain.

The Hy2Market project focuses on identifying and overcoming barriers in production, transport, industrial use, and mobility, and on broad integration with standards, legislation, and common practices so that (green) hydrogen can play a key role in achieving Fitfor55 and the CO2 targets for the year 2050. A European approach is essential for this, and the Hy2Market partners will invest heavily in transferring expertise and the knowledge acquired during the project.

The partners collaborating in Hy2Market are regional parties from Belgium, Greece, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, Spain and Romania.
