Green Planet and HyPlanet take next step towards H2 Trailer Fill Station in Delfzijl
HEAVENN strengthens the hydrogen ecosystem in Noord-Nederland with the H2 Trailer Fill Station in Delfzijl, for large-scale clean mobility and industrial use.
March 13, Utrecht
During the HyMobility event at the Utrecht Provincial House, Green Planet and HyPlanet held a symbolic signing ceremony for the realization of an H2 Trailer Fill Station in Delfzijl. With the signing of certificates by selected suppliers and involved financiers, a new step has been taken in the development of the multifuel refueling station and the broader hydrogen ecosystem in the northern energy region.
The H2 Trailer Fill Station forms an important link in an integrated hydrogen chain in which production, infrastructure, transport, and supply to mobility and industry are interconnected. The station is part of HEAVENN., the recognized Hydrogen Valley of Noord-Nederland, in which public and private partners work on a large-scale hydrogen ecosystem.
Link in the hydrogen chain
The collaboration surrounding the station encompasses the entire hydrogen chain: from feeding hydrogen into a pipeline to bulk delivery via trailers at locations in Noord-NederlandIn doing so, Green Planet and HyPlanet position the project not as a standalone refueling station, but as a strategic link in a broader hydrogen ecosystem.
The station's intended capacity is 2.000 kilograms of hydrogen per day, with a growth path to 4.000 kilograms per day. Commissioning is scheduled for the end of 2026, followed by official commissioning in 2027. The project distinguishes itself through its scale, integrated approach, and strategic relevance for mobility, logistics, and industry.
“Hydrogen helps. It helps Europe become more energy-independent and less vulnerable to geopolitical dependencies. And perhaps just as important: hydrogen helps us become less dependent on China for rare earth metals. On top of that, hydrogen ensures clean air. That is what drives Green Planet and HyPlanet every day to make hydrogen a great success.”
- Edward Doorten, entrepreneur and initiator of Green Planet and HyPlanet.
Various partners are collaborating on the project. The involved suppliers are On2Quest, Adicomp, Neuman & Esser, Kampen Industrial Care, Soluforce, MAN, Roordink, and Wierda Bedrijfswagens. Financiers and partners include Clean Hydrogen Partnership (EU), New Energy Coalition, ABN AMRO, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, the Wadden Fund and the National Programme Groningen.
