First Energy Career Event successful
On May 7, 2019, the new Follow Energy Career Event took place at the Energy Academy Europe in Groningen. During the first edition of the career event, organized by New Energy Coalition, students of the University of Groningen en Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen Students interested in energy can explore internships or jobs in the energy sector. During the event, students interacted with leading companies and professionals in the energy sector in an interactive and accessible way.
During the career event, Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD students could attend various masterclasses, speed-date with companies, and experience what it's like to work in the energy sector at the Energy Playground. A wide range of companies were present, ranging from those with technical jobs (RWE, Stork, Resato) to management positions (Enexis Group, Sweco) and government agencies (Provinces of Groningen, Friesland, and Drenthe). There was also an inspiring presentation by entrepreneurs and Patrick and Milan van der Meulen about their social enterprise, Enie.nl.
We look back on a successful first edition, where we experienced firsthand how much interest there is in new talent in the energy sector. With the large number of students we've already welcomed, I see great potential for the coming years, and we hope to connect even more students and companies through our network.
