Congrats to the 2020 Energy Academy certificate holders

New Energy Academy – the student program for energy education from New Energy Coalition – looks back on a successful but unusual year. This was especially true because the academic year couldn't conclude with the usual annual graduation ceremony to celebrate the 28 students who received their Energy Academy Certificate of Declaration of Participation. A good reason to do things differently this year: a video message to the graduates!

Program full of highlights

For New Energy Academy This year, we organized no fewer than 26 successful learning activities with over 1.000 participants! Highlights of the 2020 Energy Academy Programme include the Masterclass with Diederik Samsom during the North Climate Summit, the excursion to Paris and Brussels with visits to the OECD, IEA, Neth-ER, and the European Parliament, and the lecture on the Green Hydrogen Economy. Due to COVID-19, the Energy Academy programme also had to adapt to an online environment. For example, the Academy joined forces with our New Energy Business School (formerly Energy Delta Institute) developed its own webinars. Successfully! This allowed students to obtain their Certificate of Declaration without being physically present in Groningen!

Ready for an energy career

The energy transition requires both well-trained professionals and excellent researchers with a broad perspective on the subject. Therefore, the New Energy Academy encourages students from diverse educational backgrounds and disciplines to broaden their perspective on the energy transition. Through close collaboration with the University of Groningen and Hanze University of Applied Sciences, we empower students to become the energy professionals the world needs.

To earn the Energy Academy Certificate of the Declaration of Participation, students participate in the New Energy Academy Programme. By participating in these activities, combined with the interdisciplinary energy education offered by their university/college, these students develop a broad, well-considered vision of the energy transition.
