A symposium at the University of Groningen on the potential, best practices, and support for citizen entrepreneurship.
Citizen-led energy initiatives are playing a growing role in accelerating the local energy transition. They increase engagement, strengthen social acceptance, and contribute to energy justice. During this symposium, experts from economics, public administration, and law will share the latest insights on how communities, governments, and civil society organizations can optimally utilize this potential.

Different legal structures contribute to the success and resilience of energy communities. Using practical examples, Hoops demonstrates how appropriate legal structures safeguard interests and make organizations future-proof.
Wytze van der Gaast (Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen)
With an energy system powered by wind and solar energy, flexibility is essential. Van der Gaast discusses the role of storage, hydrogen, and nuclear energy, and especially the contribution of consumers and businesses. He also explains how energy collaboration and cooperatives can help stabilize the market and relieve grid capacity.
