Hydrogen Cross Border Conference 2026
The Hydrogen Cross Border Conference is an annual event that brings together professionals, policymakers, companies and knowledge institutions from the Netherlands and Germany.
The conference offers a platform for knowledge sharing, inspiring keynotes, panel discussions, and networking opportunities with experts and partners from across the hydrogen sector. The goal is to jointly build a strong, international hydrogen economy that contributes to the energy transition in the northern energy region.
March 11, 2026 - Maritime special
The first day of the conference, in Haren (Ems), will focus on the status quo and the future of hydrogen and hydrogen carriers in the shipping and port industry.
This day, organized in collaboration with Green Shipping Waddenzee and the Greenshipping Waddenzee Program, offers a varied program with leading speakers and interactive sessions.
Highlights of the program:
- Keynote: Global development of hydrogen as a growth market and the impact on supply and price
- Panel discussion: hydrogen supply for shipping, via pipeline gas or decentralised generation and transport
- Technology in practice: the role of fuel cell technology versus internal combustion engines (ICE) in the transition to carbon-free shipping
- Pitches from shipping companies that sail with hydrogen-powered ships
March 12, 2026 - Conference
On day two, in Lingen (Ems), the focus will be on cross-border collaboration, innovation, and concrete projects. Visitors will gain insight into current trends within the hydrogen value chain, from production and storage to transport and applications in industry, mobility, and municipalities.
