Economic hydrogen mission to Japan
Are you active in hydrogen and want to do business in Japan? In cooperation with RVO and PIB Japan Hydrogen, we are organising an economic mission to Japan for the hydrogen sector from 17 to 24 September, with a visit to the World Expo in Osaka. This mission is exclusively for Dutch companies, knowledge institutions and governments active in the hydrogen sector.

Date: 17 – 24 September 2025
Location: Starting in Tokyo and ending in Osaka, Japan
Deadline for application: 20 June 2025
Cost: €950 per company or organisation (1 person)
Why participate?
Dutch companies, knowledge institutions and organisations can, through this economic mission:
- learn about the Japanese hydrogen sector;
- connect with potential Japanese business partners, clients and/or governments;
- explore their own market opportunities in Japan;
- expand their existing network in Japan;
- visit World Expo 2025 Osaka.
The Dutch Minister for Climate and Green Growth, Sophie Hermans, and Chris Jansen, the Dutch State Secretary for Public Transport and the Environment are joining us on this mission. Their presence will allow you to establish and develop high-level contacts. You can also sign a contract, declaration of intent or Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in their presence. This gives extra visibility to your project or investment.
World Expo 2025 Osaka
During the mission, we will also visit the Dutch pavilion at World Expo Osaka during the theme week “The Future of Earth and Biodiversity”. It is the perfect location to network with companies, governments and knowledge institutions.
Opportunities for the hydrogen sector
Japan has an ambitious government policy on hydrogen and has a growing hydrogen economy. The Japanese government and industry will invest heavily in hydrogen infrastructure and transportation, as well as fuel cell technologies. The country therefore offers unique opportunities for Dutch companies in the hydrogen sector to:
- collaborate with industry leaders;
- benefit from in-house expertise;
- explore business opportunities in a growing hydrogen market.

Matchmaking session 22 May
Besides the economic hydrogen mission to Japan, we are also organising a B2B matchmaking session for Dutch and Japanese hydrogen companies together with the Dutch Embassy in Japan, Enterprise Europe Network, RVO and Jetro.
