Blue hydrogen factory Den Helder in sight
The arrival of a blue hydrogen plant in the Dutch city of Den Helder is now one step closer. A feasibility study will be conducted to determine the feasibility of the plant – hydrogen production using steam reform technology. The first results are expected in June of this year.
Collaboration for research
New Energy Coalition has with coalition partners NAM, Gasunie, GasTerra, Municipality of Den Helder en Ontwikkelingsbedrijf Noord-Holland Noord en Port of Den Helder: en Province of Noord-Holland A letter of intent was signed to conduct an initial feasibility study for a large-scale hydrogen plant in Den Helder. The province of North Holland's environmental vision positions Den Helder as a key driver of the energy transition.
Important role for ports
The ports of Den Helder, Groningen, and Amsterdam are key players in bringing green energy generated by offshore wind farms to shore. And hydrogen will play a significant role in this. The three ports are collaborating under the name HydroportsThe Hydroports aim to contribute to optimizing the infrastructure for the future hydrogen economy.
The production of blue hydrogen in Den Helder offers many economic opportunities and employment for the region Noord-Holland NoordIn the long term, Den Helder will play an important role in the transit of green hydrogen produced by offshore wind farms.
