Top-level education for (future) energy professionals?
The energy transition requires skilled professionals, researchers, and professionals with energy knowledge and insight into the energy system. The best choice of program or course depends on your level of education, experience, career goals, and specific interests.
The answer to this question therefore varies from person to person. There is a wide range of training programs and courses that focus on various facets of the energy transition. Noord-Nederland We collaborate with Noorderpoort, Alfa-college, DC Terra, Hanze University of Applied Sciences, and the University of Groningen to connect education with the needs of the energy sector. Furthermore, through our own brands, the New Energy Academy and New Energy Business School, we are committed to training students and professionals with the knowledge and competencies required for the energy transition. We have also developed the New Energy Traineeship in collaboration with VONK.
New Energy Academy
With the New Energy Academy program, we aim to inspire students and young professionals to pursue a career in energy. Throughout the year, we organize lectures, excursions, and events on sustainability and the energy transition, which students can attend free of charge. By completing a track or series, you can earn a certificate, which is presented during the annual New Energy Forum festival. Most lectures are recorded and can be viewed in the online library.
New Energy Business School
Our New Energy Business School combines knowledge and business skills to train (energy) professionals. The changing energy world forces companies to innovate to remain competitive. Furthermore, the energy sector faces a shortage of qualified personnel in the coming decades.
We provide short training courses, masterclasses, executive programs, mini-MBAs, and in-company training for (energy) professionals from around the world. Through training and networking activities, we prepare energy professionals for the challenges they face. In collaboration with the University of Groningen, we offer an accredited two-year Executive MBA.
New Energy Traineeship
Together with VONK, we developed the New Energy Traineeship. This traineeship is designed for starters and young professionals who want to grow in the energy transition. It's also for organizations that want to work with enthusiastic top talent and believe in the power of personal development. During their traineeship, participants work on an energy-related assignment at a participating organization and also participate in a soft skills program at VONK and a hard skills program at New Energy Business School. This allows the trainee to develop their personal skills and gain substantive knowledge of the energy transition, which they can then apply at the participating organization.
Energy education in secondary vocational education
Skilled professionals are essential in the energy transition because they enable the practical implementation of sustainable energy solutions. Without them, the transition to a sustainable energy system remains merely theoretical. They ensure that sustainable technologies are not only developed but also implemented and maintained. Vocational education institutions Alfa-college, DC Terra, and Noorderpoort each offer a diverse range of energy-related programs and are increasingly collaborating to align their educational programs.
Energy education in higher professional education
Anyone working on the energy transition needs specialized expertise and a broad understanding of the entire energy system. A flexible attitude among these energy professionals is essential to respond to new insights and developments. And the transition requires professionals who can collaborate across disciplines and share knowledge openly. Only then can the much-needed innovations be realized. In addition to various programs that address the energy transition, Hanze University of Applied Sciences has its own Center of Expertise Energy: Entrance. There, energy professionals are trained and good ideas are developed into solutions.
Energy education in higher education
Scientists play a crucial role in the energy transition because they drive new innovations, in-depth research, and the development of sustainable energy solutions. Without scientific progress, the energy transition will be limited to existing technologies, while more efficient, cheaper, and more sustainable methods are needed. In Groningen, academic students can enroll at the University of Groningen, where sustainable energy is incorporated into various courses, bachelor's programs, and master's programs.
