InVesta Expertise Center newest partner in POCITYF

Expertise center InVesta joins the POCITYF project, a European project that makes historic cities greener, smarter and more livable. POCITYF enables InVesta to equip the new building with the latest innovative technologies. The construction of the new expertise center InVesta on the Boekelermeer industrial estate (Alkmaar) started in November and is scheduled for completion shortly after the summer. New Energy Coalition has been a partner in POCITYF from the start and one of the founders of Investa.

About POCITYF

POCITYF is a  European Horizon 2020 project that aims making cultural-historical cities more sustainable. In this project, 46 European partners from 13 countries are working closely together to implement the Positive Energy District (PED) concept. This concept means that participants strive to produce more sustainable energy than they consume. Two so-called "Lighthouse" cities (Alkmaar and Évora) and six "Fellow" cities (including Bari and Granada) form the basis of the project. The two Lighthouse cities are showcasing various sustainable innovations. The six fellow cities are closely monitoring developments, with the goal of implementing them themselves, taking local circumstances into account.

InVesta in POCITYF

Participating in POCITYF offers InVesta the opportunity to give the proposed expertise center an innovative and sustainable character that aligns with its business operations. Before participating in the POCITYF project, plans to realise the expertise center were already in place. This meant the building would meet the BENG (Netherlands Energy Performance) requirements in effect since January 1, 2021, which require it to be (almost) energy-neutral. Joining the POCITYF consortium, which paves the way for InVesta to deploy the most modern, innovative, and sustainable technologies, fully exceeds these requirements. Instead of a (almost) energy-neutral building, the InVesta expertise center will be energy-positive and become one of the flagship projects of the POCITYF project.

InVesta is broadening the project's multidisciplinary nature by contributing expertise in the field of green gas. In addition, InVesta is elevating its demonstration activities by linking POCITYF to its future building.

The POCITYF project launched in October 2019 and has a duration of five years. The total European funding for this project is €5 million. This project is co-funded by the European Union's Horizon 22,2 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 2020.
