Exploratory phase of Beverkoog Energy Hub launched

The exploration phase of the Beverkoog Energy Hub has started, in which companies collaborate on collective energy solutions, knowledge sharing, and the future sustainability of the business park.

On Tuesday, March 10, the exploratory phase of the Energiehub Beverkoog officially started. During the meeting at Nitta, all those directly involved discussed the next steps for the initiative.

Sjors van Kuipers, Board Member for Sustainability at the Beverkoog Business Association, opened the meeting with a review of the process so far and emphasized the strong interest from companies in joining the project.

Research and initial results

Fleur Drost from Enerzien presented the scope of the study and the first results, including a collective consumption profile of the participating large consumers. In this phase, the study focuses on a smaller group of participating companies, with possibilities for expansion depending on the outcomes.

Knowledge sessions and in-depth information

The participants indicated a need for more knowledge regarding technical and legal solutions, intelligent systems, and associated business cases. Enerzien therefore organizes two knowledge sessions: one on technology and regulations, and one on subsidy opportunities for making business parks more sustainable.

Maintain control and act as a collective

Thijs Pennink of New Energy Coalition emphasized the importance of developing scenarios and maintaining control, both collectively and individually. The Municipality of Alkmaar also actively supports the process, as underscored by project leader Femke Mastboom.

New Energy Coalition is involved in the exploration of energy hub Beverkoog as hub director, commissioned by the Province of Noord-Holland, within the program Stimulating Energy Hubs North Holland. Within this incentive program is New Energy Coalition appointed as hub director for seven energy hubs in the region Noord-Holland Noord.
