In this way, it contributese at on the awareness and steps within the regional energy transition

How are you New Energy Coalition ended up?

I first in secondary vocational education Studied Journalism and Photography and then HBO Communication at the Hanze in Groningen. After that, I started working as a communications officer.. Ik I realized that I wanted to make a societal contribution to a sustainable future. My younger sister tipped me off about this vacancy, and now I have been working at [company name] with great pleasure for five years. New Energy Coalition.

What exactly does your job entail?

Within our team, we are all responsible for corporate communications, as well as for a number of projects. Personally, I focus primarily on the human capital-projects and our brand New Energy Academy. There, we organize activities for students to introduce them to the energy transition and hopefully inspire them to start working in this sector.”

For corporate communications, I am primarily responsible for social media and PR. For example, I handle press releases, newsletters, and articles for the website. We do divide the tasks within the team, but I am the driving force.

What makes the story of the energy transition in Noord-Nederland Interesting story to tell?

A tremendous amount is happening in this region regarding sustainable energy. Big steps are being taken, but at the same time, we are quite modest here, being down-to-earth Northerners. Many people think that what is happening here is 'just normal,' whereas it often involves very special developments. I believe we should share more about this, so that people in the region themselves know what is going on. and we can inspire others."

Sometimes people don't even know what is happening in a village down the road, while solutions might already be being developed there that you can apply elsewhere. Noord-Nederland Moreover, it has a historically strong energy history. The cessation of gas extraction has accelerated the energy transition, and that story is important to share.

How do you know that you are contributing to the energy transition?

The impact about my work you see this especially when communication is picked up. For example, when a newsletter is well-read, when responses come in to social media or when a press release is picked up by media. Also when journalists call with questions., You notice that the subject resonates. Within New Energy Academy, you see this reflected when students attend lectures or when partners are eager to share their knowledge through guest lectures or excursions. To me, those are clear signals that we are reaching people.

Do you notice that in your daily life as well?

When I arrive somewhere knowing that we worked on a project, I do think: nice, we contributed to that. At our At events, you see it even more strongly when people with different backgrounds come together around the theme of energy.

Working here has made me more aware of developments in the region myself. I am not technically inclined, but I am learning more and more about technologies such as hydrogen. At the same time, I try not to dive too deeply into it, so that I remain open and can continue to ask understandable questions.

How do you experience New Energy Coalition as a workplace?

Although the organization is not very big, about 60 Among the employees, everyone is incredibly involved and passionate. When I started, everyone took the time to tell me what they were working on. Also at events, such as Wind mMeets Gas, you can see that people from various roles are signing up to help. Whether someone is a project manager or an analyst, everyone is putting their shoulders to the wheel together. I find that team spirit very special.

And how do you experience your own department?

Our communications team is really close-knit. We have set it up so that we can always cover for each other when necessary. Additionally, colleagues from other departments are fun too, and you get a good sense of what is happening in the organization. I would definitely miss that collaboration and involvement if I were ever to do something else.

I translate where New Energy Coalition deals with it in forms that are understandable to everyone. This ensures that the energy transition can reach everyone. That the energy transition is understandable wword, I help with that.”
